Radioactive dating assumptions
The Uranium-238 radioisotope goes through 13 transitional stages before stabilizing into Lead-206 (U238 Pb206).
In this instance, Uranium-238 is called the "parent" and Lead-206 is called the "daughter".
Radiometric dating methods are calibrated against the geologic column, which is a relative timescale based on evolution theory and naturalism.by Tas Walker A geologist works out the relative age of a rock by carefully studying where the rock is found in the field. The field relationships, as they are called, are of primary importance and all radiometric dates are evaluated against them.To me it has been a real eye opener to see all the processes that are taking place and their potential influence on radiometric dating.
Radiometric dating is largely done on rock that has formed from solidified lava.Special emphasis is on demonstrating that discrepant results are not the exception, but the rule, and that arguments used to justify so-called good dates are, when closely examined, arbitrary and without foundation. But the reality of the day is that any method based on assumptions can never offer absolute results.
